Tight trapezius muscle can mean neck and upper back pain

Got upper neck and back pain? Many times this is an indicator of an injured trapezius. This is the muscle that extends from the base of the skull down to the back of both shoulder blades. When it gets injuries, it can produce limited motion, tightness and spasms. Injuries to this muscle can be from accidents, working out, sleeping wrong or poor posture. Many times, it is treated with anti-inflammatories and muscle-relaxant medications in addition to physical therapy. For some, trigger point injections can be very successful.
